Boondocking at the North Rim

After leaving our boondocking location near Zion National Park, we headed toward the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.

We found a suitable boondocking spot on forest road 270, about 7 miles north of the Park entrance. Our campsite was a large, open, flat area with multiple campsites making it suitable for large groups. Access is off highway 67, west on forest road 22 to the junction of forest road 22 and 270. There are a number of campsites in this area, both on forest 22 and 270. Our site was located at 36.405527, -112.151155.

We filled the fresh water tank and propane tank in Jacob Lake, and there are a couple of RV parks there where one could dump black tanks. Water is also available in the Park. There is also a country store on Rt. 67 that stocks basic supplies.

We spent two days at this location while visiting Grand Canyon National Park, leaving to find slightly warmer weather since at 8000 feet with showers, it was a little cool, even in late August. This area would be a great base camp location for exploring the North Rim and surrounding area. We would come back.

Next time, our brief  exploration of the North Rim. Till then as always, we are C & L On The Road.
